Dave Matthews teams with Greenpeace, guitar cos.
Dave Matthews, Sting, Greenpeace and four leading guitar manufacturers are pushing for new logging practices, according to Mental Floss magazine.
They are focusing on protecting the Sitka spruce tree, as well as mahogany, ebony and rosewood — all trees popular among guitar makers. Mental Floss says their proposal would require loggers to become certified by an environmental organization, which would presumably limit their activities. The guitar companies involved are Fender, Martin, Taylor and Gibson.
