Dave Matthews releasing “Eh Hee” on iTunes

Dave Matthews’ new single, “Eh Hee,” and an accompanying video will be available on iTunes on Tuesday.

The song will be for sale right away, but the video will be available for free for its first week on iTunes.

Dave Matthews played all instruments on the song, co-produced the track with John Alagia and co-directed the video with Fenton Williams. Alagia produced Dave Matthews Band’s first two albums, Remember Two Things and Recently, and he has worked on several other DMB studio and live releases. Fenton is DMB’s longtime lighting and live video director.

“Eh Hee” appears on the new Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds album, Live at Radio City. DMB is also playing the song regularly during its summer tour, but its release as a Dave solo song probably means DMB won’t record it for its next studio album.

so what’s up with the lyrics of “Eh Hee”? do you know what he is saying and/or is trying to convey? has he explained it?

I think its up to everyones opinion, but i see it as he says” God has many names, but the devil has many more.” so i think that he is portaying everyone in life, because sometimes hes nice, and behaves correct to our moral standards, however other times he acts like a psycopath (and these characters are added to by the gothic woman dressing him an whatnot – ex. he gets dressed up as a soldier with the helmet) but i just think that he is trying to say that there is a bad side to everyone but i would love to know what his idea behind it was

I found the video to be very reminiscent of an acid trip. The jerks and spasms he continually falls into and the constant change of emotion coupled with thinking some of the biggest thoughts there are to think (i.e. The nature of god and man) all hit with a piercing beat and a visual overload.

The song itself could be erroneously seen as a soapbox speech with African vocal backup when in reality the chant of “Eh Hee” is itself the muse to the burden of having to doubt your own beliefs.
