Kokua Festival tickets sell out quickly
Tickets to the Kokua Festival, a two-day concert featuring Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds and Jack Johnson, sold out in 20 minutes Saturday — and ticket scalpers are to blame, according to the Honolulu Star Bulletin.
Tickets for the April 19-20 benefit festival have face value between $40 and $125, but “mainland” ticket buyers “snapped up” the tickets, the newspaper reported. Online ticket brokers are now selling tickets for at least $102 and upwards of $1,000.
The concerts sell out every year, but the first-ever Dave Matthews-related concert in Hawaii increased demand this year. One fan, Weston Yap, told the Star Bulletin: “I thought the festival was about getting local people to learn to be environmentally responsible, and supporting local sustainability. … It’d be a shame if the people of Hawaii couldn’t get in.”
