Mom pleads to buying teens booze for DMB show

The case of a false sexual assault reported before a Dave Matthews Band concert in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. has landed one woman on probation.

Lisa M. Vedder, 42, of nearby Clifton Park, N.Y. pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of unlawfully dealing with a child and received a three-year probation sentence, according to today’s Albany Times-Union. Police in August charged Vedder with buying vodka for her daughter and three friends, all 15, and then dropping them off at the DMB concert on Aug. 14.

Before the concert, one of the girls claimed that a man in his late teens or early 20s sexually assaulted her, but a two-day police investigation found that consensual sexual acts occurred between the girl and a 15-year-old boy.

Vedder’s case was actually resolved in December, but the Times-Union just reported on it today. Under the terms of her plea, she must go to an inpatient alcohol treatment center for four to six months and then participate in a drug court program for 12 to 18 months.
