Dave Matthews Band plays Rolling Stones’ ‘Bitch’

Dave Matthews Band continued its streak of performing a new cover song at every concert last night, playing “Bitch” by the Rolling Stones.

“Bitch” was the final song of the night in Camden, N.J. The concert also featured the tour debuts of “What You Are,” which was only played once last year, and “Crush.” In addition, DMB debuted a new intro to “Ants Marching” that starts off with just Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds playing before the rest of the band joins in.

I went to both shows in Burgettstown and I was very satisfied with the sets (Granny, 41, Ants, LIOG). However, I’m not a fan of all these covers. I don’t mean to be an arrogant DMB fan, but I come see them live to hear their own songs. If they are getting a little bored of their own stuff, then they should just pull out rare songs that have been out of their rotation for awhile now to freshen things up a bit.

By the way, just found this article in my local paper. Thought I’d pass it on if you haven’t seen it yet:

Saturday night was awesome! They absolutly nailed it. Tim is such a great addition to the band. You could see that Dave a Carter were in awe of what they were doing. It is so cool to see a band that has been around for so long still learning from eachother and getting even better. Thanks for a great show, and see you again in Hershey.

To lmiller1717: I can see both sides of the “too many covers” debate. But I feel like sometimes DMB can’t win with its fan base. People complain when the setlists get too predictable. Now DMB is delivering a pretty big surprise every night, and people are complaining because it’s not the songs they want to hear.

Personally, I don’t think three covers out of the 18 or so songs they play a night is too much. I’m a little skeptical of playing a brand new cover song as an encore closer, but I haven’t seen a show yet this year to judge for myself.

I’ve seen them jam to bitch in Mansfeild, Mass. To be honest that was the greatest day of my life. I dont care what covers they do, it put a little DMB spice to it. DAve is the greatest song writer of our generation.
