Lillywhite discusses Dave Matthews Band split
Steve Lillywhite spoke to HDNet recently about his production work on Dave Matthews Band’s first three studio albums, giving the most insight yet as to why he hasn’t worked with DMB since 2000.
DMB attempted to record the follow-up to 1998′s Before These Crowded Streets with Lillywhite but abandoned the sessions in favor of recording Everyday with Glen Ballard. The Lillywhite Sessions leaked online shortly after Everyday’s release, fans loved it, and DMB re-recorded many of those songs for 2002′s Busted Stuff album.
Lillywhite said on the HDNet show “Sound Off with Matt Pinfield“: “I felt very sad that … that record was re-recorded with all my production ideas, and I didn’t even get thanked on the re-recording of it. I feel bad about that.”
Lillywhite also recently talked about his work with DMB on National Public Radio.
