Bill O’Reilly says Dave Matthews is a ‘pinhead’

Bill O’Reilly called Dave Matthews a “pinhead” Monday night on The O’Reilly Factor.

O’Reilly, the conservative talk show host, called Dave a “pinhead” in response to Dave’s comments in a CNN interview, where he said he thinks some criticism of President Barack Obama is racially motivated.

“On the pinhead front, South African singer Dave Matthews seems to know a lot about America,” O’Reilly said before playing a clip from Dave’s CNN interview.

It should be no surprise that O’Reilly, with his staunchly conservative views on immigration, identified Dave as South African, even though Dave has spent the vast majority of his life in the United States and is more involved in politics than a lot of native-born Americans.

Dave is not the only Dave Matthews Band member involved in a brewing political feud this week. Stefan Lessard called John Edwards a “sleaze ball” yesterday in light of the news that Edwards promised his mistress he’d marry her after his cancer-stricken wife died, and DMB would perform at the wedding.

As a huge Dave fan and an O'Reilly fan, I have to agree with Bill on this one. Dave is wrong to make the assumption that the majority of people who disagree with President Obama are racist. The term racist is a serious one, and it should not be thrown around lightly. Considering the fact that a significant number of people who now disagree with President Obama's policies are the same people who voted for him.

John, Dave didn't say "the majority of people who disagree with President Obama are racist." He said, "There's a good population of people that are terrified of the president only because he's black." "A good population of people" doesn't mean the majority, and Dave never used the word "racist" at all.
