Black-Eyed Peas crashed DMB performance
The Dave Matthews Band and Black-Eyed Peas collaboration at the Outside Lands Festival was not planned. In fact, DMB didn’t even invite the Black-Eyed Peas on stage, Dave Matthews says in the Los Angeles Times.
The collaboration came during DMB’s performance of “Jimi Thing,” when Fergie and apl.de.ap, who had been watching the set at the side of the stage, came on stage. Fergie sang a line from Sublime’s “Santeria,” and then apl.de.ap rapped and had a pretty funny dance-off with Dave.
But Dave didn’t seem to mind that the Black-Eyed Peas crashed the performance.
“I guess some bands might be, like, ‘Who do you think you are?’” he told the Times. “But what moved them to come on stage was joy, and they were just carried away. That’s kind of what our music is.”
