The Bud Light Port Paradise cruise featuring Dave Matthews Band took place this weekend. DMB fan Jake Huff was aboard Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas and filed nightly updates for us:

Wow, what a whirlwind!!

After departing from Port Miami, Sprint service was nonexistent, and my daily updates sank to the bottom of the Caribbean Sea.

Friday we boarded the boat and were handed our choice of Bud Light or Bud Light Lime. We threw our bags in our rooms and headed instantly for the pool deck, where buckets of six were $13! WOOT! Can’t beat that. They had a DJ on the pool deck at all the peak times, and it did start out ugly.

5 to 7 p.m. Friday was our free beer time, and they had plenty of stations to accommodate the already-drunken masses. Several Bud Light Limes later I was probably the happiest drunk on the boat

Dinner Friday evening was spent in the company of three other couples who had never seen DMB before. The steak was tremendous.

The costume party was Friday evening, and the imaginations on the boat were great! The group winners were a bunch of guys dressed as Teletubbies. The solo male winner category was a tie between a guy dressed as a soldier from 300 with an outfit made entirely of Bud Light boxes and cans and a guy dressed as Megatron with all Bud Light stuff. The female winner was a barely naked girl, and I wasn’t sure what she was, but she was hot as hell! Other costumes that warrant mention were the Muscle and Fitness magazine cover and Bert and Ernie.

We headed to bed about 1 a.m. after things on the pool deck were shut down and they moved the party indoors.
