Bud Light Port Paradise cruise diary: Day 2

The Bud Light Port Paradise cruise featuring Dave Matthews Band took place this weekend. DMB fan Jake Huff was aboard Royal Caribbean's Majesty of the Seas and filed nightly updates for us:

Saturday morning was an early start due to the "motion of the ocean," literally. My girlfriend woke up at 6:30, feelin' it. My remedy ... MIMOSAS for breakfast and a dip in the pool. It did the trick!

Breakfast was good but wasn't worth the wait in the main dining room, when the food in the buffet was just as good and the service wasn't slow.

We docked in Nassau about 10:30 that morning, and the wait to get off the boat was terrible. We didn't book any excursions; rather we just walked over to the Hilton, went through the lobby to the beach and jumped on one of their boats to go snorkeling. It was great! We took a 20-minute boat ride out to a private island and went along the reefs. I've done it several times, and this was by far the best.

On the way in, Basil, our guide, recommended a local restaurant about a 20-minute walk away from the ship, and we ate conch salad and snapper and lobster and drank Kalik beer with a bunch of locals. It was a tremendous day.

Unfortunately the day got away from us, and by the time we got back to Senor Frog's, there was no on left from the Warehouse gathering.

Getting back on the boat was another disaster. The lines were long (there were five cruise ships in port that day), the building they herded us through was hotter than you could ever imagine, and to top it all off, two guys came pushing through the crowd holding a girl over their heads as she proceeded to get rid of her lunch and breakfast from the previous two weeks.

Once back on the boat, we went up to the pool deck for the captain's cocktail party, where they were serving free rum punch. This was a nice change from the constant barrage of beer that had been thrown at us to that point.

We had dinner that evening with a Warehouser, Mike, and his brother Erick. Great guys! The salmon at dinner was wonderful; the service was terrible. They never brought our drink orders until we asked for the third time, and our water was never refilled, but the food and the company was awesome. That evening from 11 p.m.-1 a.m. was once again free Bud Light and Bud Light Lime time!

Saturday night we docked in CocoCay, Royal Caribbean's private island. There was a decent fireworks show for us at 11 p.m., and we went to bed shortly after that knowing that Sunday was going to be a BIG DAY!
