Rob Cavallo signs with Warner Music Group
Rob Cavallo is Warner Music Group’s new chief creative officer, Variety reports.
Cavallo produced Dave Matthews Band’s Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King and has also worked with Green Day and My Chemical Romance, among others. Back in August, Dave Matthews told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that he wanted Cavallo to produce DMB’s next album as well.
“I have no desire to make a record with anyone else right now,” Dave said at the time.
Cavallo’s signing with Warner Music Group may throw a wrench into those plans, because DMB is signed to RCA Records — although, as Variety points out, Warner Music Group did release Big Whiskey internationally.
UPDATE (2:43 p.m.): Scratch that last part. A Los Angeles Times report says, “Cavallo will also be able to work on outside projects with other artists and labels.”
