Dave Matthews Band live recordings from the 2009 summer tour will soon be available via the DMB iTunes Pass.
The band made the announcement today on its Facebook page. The iTunes Pass includes Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King and promises exclusive tracks and videos, but fans have been complaining because most of the bonuses posted up to now are also available elsewhere. (The only track completely exclusive to the iTunes Pass so far is a live version of "Corn Bread.")
DMB has not said what 2009 summer tour recordings it will release on iTunes, but they could be the first official live recordings of Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King songs.
This ticket agency is the place for Dave Matthews tickets and other cheap concert tickets throughout the year.

Dave Matthews Band's new single, "Why I Am," will hit radio July 13.
A copy of the "Why I Am" promo CD on eBay lists July 13 as the "single impact date." The single's length is 3:39, which is shorter than the 3:54 on the Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King album version.
The first Big Whiskey single, "Funny the Way It Is," reached No. 1 on the Billboard Triple A chart in April and holds that spot again this week.

Dave Matthews arrested at Dave Matthews concert
A man named Dave Matthews was arrested at the Dave Matthews Band concert Saturday in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Police arrested David Matthews, 20, of Cohoes, N.Y. on a sexual abuse charge after the show at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC), according to the Albany Times-Union. A 20-year-old woman said she was the victim of sexual abuse and led police to Matthews early Sunday morning, the newspaper said.
His arrest was one of 34 that happened at DMB's two shows at SPAC this year.
At the 2007 SPAC show, a 15-year-old girl said she was raped, but a police investigation found that the acts were consensual, and the girl's mother ended up pleading guilty to buying alcohol for her daughter and her friends.

Dave Matthews Band plays 'Halloween' at SPAC
Dave Matthews Band played "Halloween" at Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) on Saturday.
It was the first time DMB played "Halloween," the rare crowd favorite, this year. The song capped the end of an amazing encore at SPAC, which began with a Dave Matthews solo version of "#40" and featured full-band versions of "Granny" and "All Along the Watchtower."

AOL rates top 10 Dave Matthews Band songs
AOL Radio has issued a list of the top 10 Dave Matthews Band songs, and for a corporate blog, its list is surprisingly in tune with the opinions of hardcore fans.
Here's the list of DMB's best songs, according to AOL Radio:
The only song you can really complain about is "Funny the Way It Is." I understand they wanted some representation from the new album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, but "Squirm," "Time Bomb" or "Why I Am" would have been better choices.
For what it's worth, here's my list of DMB's 10 best songs:

DMB's Big Whiskey hits No. 1 on Billboard
Dave Matthews Band's Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King is No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, DMB's new studio album, sold more than 424,000 copies in its first week, according to Billboard. That made it the third-highest debut of the year, behind Eminem's Relapse and U2's No Line on the Horizon.
Perhaps surprisingly, given the amount of hype around Big Whiskey, the album didn't debut as strongly as DMB's last studio album, Stand Up. Stand Up sold 465,000 copies in its first week in 2005.
Still, Big Whiskey is DMB's fifth consecutive studio album to debut at No. 1 -- a Billboard record -- joining Stand Up (2005), Busted Stuff (2002), Everyday (2001), Before These Crowded Streets (1998) and Crash (1996).
DMB, U2 and Metallica are the only three artists in Billboard's history to have five No. 1 album debuts, and DMB is the only band with five No. 1 album debuts in a row.

'Funny the Way It Is' video by DMB premieres
Dave Matthews Band's "Funny the Way It Is" video debuted today on Spinner, an AOL Music blog.
The "Funny the Way It Is" music video features Dave Matthews getting poked, prodded and changed into different outfits in stop-motion animation, much like in his "Eh Hee" video. The other DMB members only appear playing music on a screen behind Dave.
Watch the "Funny the Way It Is" video:
When DMB shot a music video in Grand Central Station last month, AntsMarching.org said it had confirmed that the shoot was for "Funny the Way It Is." But DMB clearly did not shoot this video at the New York landmark. That video shoot was possibly for the next single, which is likely to be "Why I Am."

Dave Matthews to start filming movie in October
Dave Matthews' next movie, "The Other Side," will start filming in October off the coast of Massachusetts, according to Variety.
The project has been in the works for quite a while. We first learned about Dave's role as "Colonel Schreck" in early 2007, but the Brittany Murphy role mentioned at the time now apparently belongs to Lindsay Lohan. The movie was supposed to start filming in January 2008 but came across some delays.
Dave also said he was writing songs for the movie in 2007, but it's unknown what happened to those songs or if the producers still plan to use them.
Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi and Alanis Morissette will star alongside Lindsay and Dave in "The Other Side." Variety describes the film as a story about "a grad student who must spend the summer working at a scientific institute on a remote island. She discovers an eccentric community of characters who are hiding a secret about a tragedy that took place many years before."
Dave knows a thing or two about eccentric characters, having played a flamboyant salesman in "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" and a Mel Gibson-loving redneck in "You Don't Mess with the Zohan."

Watch video of Dave Matthews Band on CBS
Dave Matthews Band and its new album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, were the subjects of an interesting feature story on "CBS News Sunday Morning" yesterday.
The band members opened up about the death of LeRoi Moore and just how close the band was to breaking up in the four years since its last album, Stand Up. Things got so bad that Dave Matthews even sent a letter to the rest of DMB saying he couldn't go on with the band anymore.
