Acoustic version of Big Whiskey coming this fall?

An acoustic version of Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King by Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds is on the way, according to Tim Reynolds' nephew.

Tim's nephew, who uses the user name scottpr on the AntsMarching.org message boards, has written several posts about the new Dave and Tim album in the past few days. He said he's not sure if the acoustic Big Whiskey CD will be a live or studio recording, but he said the release will coincide with some Dave and Tim concert dates later this year.

Dave and Tim have released two live albums, Live at Luther College and Live at Radio City Music Hall, but have never done a studio album.

Natalie Portman buys LeRoi Moore's house in L.A.

LeRoi Moore's house in Los Angeles has a new owner: actress Natalie Portman.

Portman purchased Moore's house in for $3.25 million, Radar Online said. LeRoi had planned to rehabilitate from his June 2008 ATV accident injuries at the Los Angeles home, but he died from complications shortly after arriving in L.A. that August.

The home, in a gated community in the Loz Feliz area, has four bedrooms, two baths and two guesthouses, along with a swimming pool and 18,000 square feet of landscaped grounds. LeRoi had purchased the home from actors Catherine Keener and Dermot Mulroney.

DMB to play Super Bowl XLIV halftime show?

Dave Matthews Band could play the Super Bowl XLIV halftime show, if NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's iPod is any indication.

Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com lists DMB as one of 10 acts that the NFL could choose to play next year's Super Bowl halftime show in Miami. He reports that Goodell loaded his iPod with DMB songs before a recent hiking trip to Mt. Rainier -- a good sign, even though Goodell's wife said last year she was skeptical about DMB performing at the game.

An NFL spokesman said league execs want an act that is "exciting, relevant and has broad appeal due to our immense and diverse worldwide audience."

DMB is more relevant now than at any time in the past decade, thanks to its new album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart and spawned the hit single "Funny the Way It Is." The band has been a relative unknown internationally for most of its career but is in the middle of a successful European tour this month.

Other potential Super Bowl XLIV halftime show acts include the Eagles, Bon Jovi and Miami Dolphins business partner Jimmy Buffett, according to Marvez. Previous Super Bowl halftime shows in the Goodell era have featured Prince, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
