Kenny Chesney and Dave Matthews song I’m Alive up for Academy of Country Music Award
The Kenny Chesney and Dave Matthews song “I’m Alive” received an Academy of Country Music Award nomination today in the Vocal Event of the Year category.
Besides the Kenny Chesney and Dave Matthews song, the other Academy of Country Music Award nominees are songs by Brooks and Dunn with Billy Gibbons, Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis, Jack Ingram and Patty Griffin, and Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins.
The Kenny Chesney and Dave Matthews song originally appeared on Chesney’s 2008 album Lucky Old Sun. But it didn’t become a country hit until last year, when Chesney released “I’m Alive” as a single off his Greatest Hits II album.
The CMA Awards in November featured a performance of the Kenny Chesney and Dave Matthews song. That was not the first time the two had shared a stage, however. They played Steve Miller Band’s “The Joker” at a Chesney concert in Atlanta in 2007.
Chesney received four Academy of Country Music Award nominations this year, including Entertainer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year. Dave has never received an Academy of Country Music Award nomination before.
The Academy of Country Music Awards will air April 18 on CBS. It’s not yet known if the show will include a performance of the Kenny Chesney and Dave Matthews song.
