Wrigley Field concerts get Chicago City Council panel approval

Two Wrigley Field concerts this September are closer to reality.

A Chicago City Council panel today approved two Wrigley Field concerts for Sept. 17 and 18. The Chicago Tribune report — and apparently the City Council itself — did not specifically mention Dave Matthews Band, but the Chicago Sun-Times has previously reported that the Wrigley Field concerts in September will be DMB shows.

Nobody opposed the two Wrigley Field concerts at today’s meeting, and several neighborhood groups are actually in favor of the shows, according to the Tribune. The full City Council must now vote to approve the Wrigley Field concerts.

Rumors of two Wrigley Field Dave Matthews Band concerts began swirling in January. The Chicago Cubs also plan to host a Wrigley Field concert in July; that show was supposed to feature Billy Joel and Elton John, but they decided not to tour this summer.
