DMB, Lillywhite could work together again, Dave Matthews says

Dave Matthews Band and Steve Lillywhite could get back together.

Dave Matthews opened the door for a DMB-Lillywhite reunion in an interview with Italian fan site Con-Fusion, which appeared in this month’s edition of Buscadero magazine and AntsMarching.org has translated into English. The interviewer asked for Dave’s reaction to Lillywhite’s recent comments that he would love to work with DMB again.

“Absolutely!” Dave responded, according to the interview. “I hadn’t heard that, but I now (sic) that (DMB manager Coran Capshaw) keeps in touch with him. When we stopped working together it was just not a good time for us, but I spent one of the best times of my life with him. I think it would be great fun to work with him again. We’ll see if it pans out. I love working with Rob Cavallo too, he likes to make a joyful noise as well. Maybe we can do both.”

The DMB-Lillywhite partnership led to the band’s three best albums: Under the Table and Dreaming, Crash and Before These Crowded Streets. They abandoned their fourth effort in 2000 — the recordings leaked as the Lillywhite Sessions in 2001 — and DMB ended up re-recording most of those songs for the Busted Stuff album in 2002.

In 2008, Lillywhite spoke about his split with DMB.

“I felt very sad that … that record was re-recorded with all my production ideas, and I didn’t even get thanked on the re-recording of it,” he said on “Sound Off with Matt Pinfield. “I feel bad about that.”

But now, it appears both sides are willing to let bygones be bygones.

In Dave’s interview with Con-Fusion, he also talked about the possibility that an album of Dave Matthews Band rare songs could be released. That’s the second time in two weeks that he has mentioned that topic in an interview. Hmm…

Did you even listen to the interview? There's no way that's what Dave was saying. He was simply saying that he really enjoyed their time together, and it would be awesome if it happened again some day.

Where in this post did I write anything that contradicts what Dave said in the interview? I wrote that DMB and Lillywhite COULD work together again and that the door is open for a reunion, which is right in line with what Dave said ("It would be great fun to work with him again. We'll see if it pans out.").

From your title and the way you worded the article, it made it seem like it was likely that they would collaborate again soon. Whereas in these recent interviews, that hasn't been alluded to at all.
