The Governors Island Dave Matthews Band Caravan concerts Saturday and Sunday have been postponed because of Hurricane Irene.

Friday’s Governors Island DMB Caravan concert will still take place, and fans with tickets to Saturday and Sunday’s shows may attend. DMB just issued this statement on Facebook:

“The Governor of New York has issued a state emergency, therefore the DMB Caravan events on Saturday, August 27th and Sunday, August 28th have been postponed. We will announce the new Caravan Governors Island dates as soon as they have been confirmed. We will continue to post updates to the Caravan site and this Facebook page as they are confirmed. Ticket holders for Saturday and Sunday are invited to attend the Friday event tomorrow at Governors Island.”

Information on refunds is not yet available. Hurricane Irene is expected to hit the New York area Sunday, and Mayor Michael Bloomberg put a stop to all outdoor activities in flood-prone areas after 2 p.m. Saturday.
