Saturday Governors Island DMB Caravan also in doubt

All outdoor events in New York’s most flood-prone areas must end by 2 p.m. Saturday — a Hurricane Irene-related announcement that jeopardizes the Saturday Governors Island Dave Matthews Band Caravan.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg just cancelled all outdoor events in Zone A, the city’s low-lying areas, on Sunday and ordered Saturday events in those sections to stop by 2 p.m. Governors Island, site of the DMB Caravan festival, is in Zone A.

Bloomberg’s order means the Sunday Governors Island DMB Caravan, which was already in doubt, almost certainly won’t take place as scheduled, and Saturday’s likely won’t as well. Hurricane Irene is expected to hit the New York area Sunday, but DMB has not officially announced any cancellations yet.

Tomorrow’s DMB Caravan concert on Governors Island can apparently go on as scheduled.
