DMB plays ‘Brass Monkey’ by Beastie Boys at Jones Beach
Dave Matthews Band covered the Beastie Boys’ “Brass Monkey” during last night’s concert at Jones Beach State Park in Wantagh, New York.
The “Brass Monkey” performance was likely a tribute to the Beastie Boys’ Adam “MCA” Yauch, a New York native who passed away last month. DMB played a partial version of the song as a segue between “So Much to Say” and “Too Much,” instead of the traditional segue, “Anyone Seen the Bridge?” DMB only played a brief snippet of “Too Much” before then transitioning into “Ants Marching.”
It was the first time DMB had covered “Brass Monkey” or any Beastie Boys song.
The Jones Beach concert also featured the first performance of “So Right” since 2010 and the tour debut of “Write a Song.”
