Dave Matthews Band performed Boyd Tinsley’s “True Reflections” for the first time in nearly 10 years at Saturday night’s concert in Mansfield, Massachusetts.
DMB hadn’t played “True Reflections,” a concert staple in the band’s early days that enjoyed a turn of the century renaissance, since July 29, 2003. Boyd, who wore a Boston Strong T-shirt throughout Saturday’s show, tweeted this message the day after:
Happy Sunday. I still can’t believe it’s been like 10 years or something since DMB played True Reflections. We had a fun time playing it.

Saturday’s concert also featured the return of “Long Black Veil,” a cover song DMB hadn’t performed since 2010, and the first “What Would You Say” opener since 2006. Here’s video of DMB performing “True Reflections” in Mansfield:

A trailer for a film project called “The Being Experience” popped up on YouTube today. Dave Matthews doesn’t appear in the trailer, but he’s somehow involved with the project, which is, um, well, how ’bout you just watch it for yourself:
“The Being Experience” is described as a collection of short films by independent filmmaker Jennifer Elster, but details are purposefully unclear. The project’s about page, for example, says little except, “Portals, alcoves and passageways have and will continue to guide you on your journey.”
The project has been in the works since at least 2010, when a trailer for “In the Woods,” one of the films in the collection, appeared online. Other participants include Moby, Questlove, Terrence Howard, Rosie Perez and Debra Winger.
Farm Aid 2013 will take place Sept. 21 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) in Saratoga Springs, New York.
Dave Matthews, Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp, who make up the Farm Aid board of directors, will perform at the event, with the rest of the lineup to be announced. Tickets go on sale to the general public June 28.
Tim Reynolds has performed with Dave at Farm Aid every year since 2007, and he typically isn’t announced as one of the initial performers, so he’ll likely join Dave again this year. Dave played solo at every Farm Aid from 2001, when he joined its board of directors, through 2006. Dave Matthews Band also performed at the event in 1995, 1997 and 1999.
Farm Aid 2013 is the 28th edition of the annual fundraising concert for American farmers and the first time the event has come to SPAC.
UPDATE (June 24, 9:44 a.m.): Tim will indeed join Dave again this year. Check out the full Farm Aid 2013 lineup.
