DMB Charlottesville show to air on TBS

State Farm Neighborhood SessionsDave Matthews Band’s 2016 homecoming concert is coming to television.

TBS will air portions of the May 7 DMB Charlottesville concert as part of a new program called “State Farm Neighborhood Sessions.” The show highlights musicians who give back to their communities; the DMB Charlottesville concert celebrated the band’s 25th anniversary and raised money for its Bama Works Fund.

The third episode of “State Farm Neighborhood Sessions” will feature DMB, following episodes from Jennifer Lopez and Toby Keith. The air date for DMB’s program is not yet available.

The DMB Charlottesville concert featured the debuts of three new songs — “Samurai Cop,” “Bob Law” and “Bismarck” — plus the full-band returns of “Sugar Will” and “The Last Stop” after six-year absences.

New Dave Matthews Band song Plastic Girl debuts in Camden

Dave Matthews Band performed a brand new song at last night’s concert in Camden, New Jersey.

The new Dave Matthews Band song, “Plastic Girl,” was the sixth song played during the show. It joins “Samurai Cop,” “Bob Law” and “Bismarck” as new DMB songs that have debuted on this tour. The band also introduced four new songs — “Black and Blue Bird,” “Be Yourself,” “Virginia in the Rain” and “Death on the High Seas” — during last year’s tour. That means we’re up to eight known songs that could potentially be on the next DMB studio album, which has been in the works for more than three years.

Dave Matthews Band Crash vinyl due July 15

Dave Matthews Band will release its seminal album Crash on vinyl for the first time next month.

dave matthews band crash albumThe Dave Matthews Band Crash vinyl release will celebrate the album’s 20th anniversary. It will be available as a two-LP set on 180-gram black vinyl, and the audio is remastered from the original analog tapes.

Crash is DMB’s most popular album, having sold more than 7 million copies since its April 30, 1996 release. The album spawned the mega-hit “Crash Into Me” and earned the band its only Grammy, for Best Rock Vocal on “So Much to Say.”

Unlike the 20th anniversary release of Under the Table and Dreaming on vinyl in 2014, the Crash vinyl release will not include any unreleased material from the studio sessions. DMB recorded several songs that didn’t end up on the album, including “Get In Line,” “#36,” “Help Myself” and “True Reflections.” Several of those songs received later studio releases; “#36” became “Everyday,” “True Reflections” was on Boyd Tinsley’s 2003 solo album and DMB recorded “Help Myself” during the Before These Crowded Streets sessions and released it on the “Scream 2” soundtrack.

The Dave Matthews Band Crash vinyl release will come with an eight-page booklet of previously unpublished photographs of the band. It is available for pre-order in the Dave Matthews Band Official Store along with Live Trax 38, a Crash-heavy show from 1996.

In addition, a limited edition 150-gram color splash vinyl version of Crash is available exclusively through Amazon.
