Here’s the criteria used for voting for the top Dave Matthews Band songs in each category:

• Personal favorites: “Which songs do I like the best?”
• Classics: “Which songs get the loudest reactions at concerts? Which songs will DMB most be remembered for?”
• Best songs: “Which songs have the best lyrics, musicianship and emotion?”

On each ballot, the No. 1 song in each category received five points, down to one point for the No. 5 song. Then we tallied up the points and produced this overall list of the top Dave Matthews Band songs.
